Sound of Resilience is a two-week interdisciplinary residency by SOPRA SOTTO exploring sound and music as a language beyond the intellect—an embodied expression of shared human experiences across generations and cultures.

Through music, voice, rhythm, vibration, silence, storytelling, and listening, participants explore sound as a medium for connection, remembrance, healing, resistance, and collective imagination. Inspired by Sardinia’s rich sonic traditions, the residency approaches sound as both an artistic medium and a social practice, exploring themes of belonging, identity, cultural resilience, and alternative futures.

WHAT

The residency is a process-based, communal, and co-created experience focused on experimentation, exchange, and collective learning rather than finished outcomes.
A group of 6–8 interdisciplinary residents will share daily life in a rustic farmhouse in the Gallura hills, with a programme shaped through workshops by and for residents. Activities may include listening sessions, sound experiments, performances, movement, field recording, storytelling, discussions, walks, and collaborative making.

The residency combines shared meals, individual practice, immersion in nature, and exploration of Sardinia’s landscapes and cultural traditions.

WHO

Open to musicians, sound artists, filmmakers, writers, performers, researchers, educators, curators, activists, healers, and interdisciplinary creatives working with sound in any form.
Practices may include experimental and electronic sound, traditional and folkloric music, communal singing, field recording, performance, film, writing, social practice, healing practices, activism, and interdisciplinary work where sound intersects with other artistic forms.
