From INSTITUTO’s base in the historic city centre, residents will be able to explore ideas and develop projects, benefiting from INSTITUTO’s interdisciplinary environment, before presenting their work at a public event. Residents are encouraged to foster collaborations with other artists, organisations, students and professionals in the city of Porto. We can host one artist at a time, or a small team, in a fully-equipped studio with independent access.

We accept self-funded spontaneous applications, and we also provide support with applications for grants suggested by candidates. We ask applicants to fill the application form, including a bio/CV and a synopsis of the project to be developed during residency stay. We particularly welcome proposals related to architecture, critical spatial practices, urban culture and postcolonial subjects, with a tangible public and social impact. The residency includes a presentation of the work in our venue, at a public event.
