The Cabins is delighted to be collaborating with visual artists Jane LaFarge Hamill and Jason Bereswill on two fantastic residencies in rural New Jersey this fall. (Residency 1 is September 1-29, Residency 2 is October 2-30, 2021.)

Both residencies are one-month long and come with a $500 stipend and weekly CSA delivery. Each resident will live and work out of a private, three-story renovated barn with a full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom (queen bed) and studio space on the first floor. The barn is located on a 32-acre organic farm set alongside the Delaware river in rural New Jersey—the lovely town of Lambertville is only 1 mile away and a bicycle and helmet are provided by the hosts. Both Philadelphia and NYC are easily reachable by car and train and there is an art shop in the neighboring town of Princeton.

A few caveats if you are thinking of applying: The barn has stairs; dogs and cats have come through the barn and roam freely on the property; there are bees on the property (managed by beekeepers), and, just like everywhere we have held The Cabins to date, there is the likelihood of ticks, so if you are squeamish about living closely with nature, this opportunity might not be your ideal match. Quiet hours are 10pm to 6am and pets are not allowed. Residents can use the swimming pool and pond on the property once a liability waiver is signed, and the owners—artists themselves—would like residents to leave one piece of art behind; it can be from a prior work, however, and does not have to be something produced or written at the residency.

Calls for applications open May 14th and close July 14th, 2021. To get your application started, please visit https://apply.thecabinsretreat.com and to learn more about The Cabins, visit thecabinsretrat.com
