Flux Factory is excited to expand its artist residency program by offering two fully-funded six-month residencies to two culturally underserved emerging artists who also demonstrate financial need.

We're looking for artists, community members, and friends who enjoy being part of a wonderful and prolific social milieu. This residency is perfect for artists who have their own focused practice, but revel in sharing it with others in a vibrant and at times chaotic environment. In addition to providing a venue for personal production, Flux Factory also functions as a collective taking on a number of exhibitions and projects all in which its artists-in-residence are encouraged to participate. Before applying, please visit our website:http://www.fluxfactory.org/"> http://www.fluxfactory.org

The residencies will run from July 1, 2011 until December 31, 2011.  While our program has many international artists, artists living in the New York area will take priority for this opportunity.

Flux Factory is an artist-run not-for-profit organization that provides residencies and work spaces for 14 artists from the US and around the world. Together, we organize ambitious collective projects and programming in our gallery, while doing projects as a collective in other institutions in the US and abroad.

Our building includes a gallery, a co-working office, a screen printing lab, and a wood shop. We also have a shared kitchen, library, and lots of great international emerging artists. Residents benefit from an engaged and creative community, studio visits, monthly potluck dinners & salons, and exposure to a large community of creative collaborators who both maintain personal practices and also develop projects together.

All residents have the opportunity to have a show in our gallery space, organize their own programming, and have a voice in planning future programming that will help sustain the organization as a whole.

These two six-month residencies are made possible by The Edward & Sally Van Lier Fund from The New York Community Trust.
