Compose Yourself: Daredevil Letterpress
Instructed by Jessica Spring • www.springtidepress.com

We’ll explore both traditional methods of employing circular and angle quads, adapting tools from art supply and hardware stores for manipulating type, and experimentation with Daredevil Furniture, a set of lasercut furniture designed for type composition at Springtide Press. An exchange of daredevil prints will complete this workshop appropriate for printers ready to expand their approach to typographic composition and image-making.

Print Blitz! Screenprint! And Unique Prints!

This workshop will focus on photo-based screenprinting processes and mixed media unique multiples. Students will become fluent in the technical aspects of screenprinting and explore various printing substrates. Students will be directed to explore their personal artistic vision by developing imagery that fully utilizes screenprinting as a visually expressive medium. Participants will produce a small varied edition of unique prints during the workshop.
TECHNIQUES WE WILL COVER: Reduction/additive printing, color overlays, paper stencils, mixing inks, print registration, Direct Photo Emulsion (Handcut Stencil Film Rubylith and photobased Stencils).
