Who we are:
Con Artist Collective is a shared art studio and creative workspace with an attached gallery in the heart of the Lower East Side arts district. We were founded in 2010 and have been covered by press like Whitehot Magazine, New York Magazine, Bowery Boogie, The Vernissage, Arte Fuse, CBS New York, Raine Magazine, Decompoz Magazine, 12oz Prophet, The Village Voice and more!
How do I get studio space?
Apply online to participate in a residency cycle and work with other emerging artists over a period of 1-3 months. Each season features monthly mentorship sessions (the mentor for Summer is kHyal from getfizz.com!). Residency artists can continue their 24/7 access after going through a residency cycle.
What does it cost?
There is no fee to apply. Upon acceptance artists fees are $300/month. Participants enjoy 24/7 access to our 3,000 square foot studio and free access to our screen-printing equipment, 3-D printer, donated art supply shelfs, communal computers and more! We hold a monthly residency showcase to feature those artists in the studio, and what they've created that month. You may be selected for an artist spotlight vide or regular instagram posts featuring you and your work.
What's this residency about?
This residency is all about getting out of your bubble, meeting other artists, and coming together in a shared community space to forge relationships and work together. We hold regular collective-wide socials and encourage our studio residency artists to participate in group activities like Critique Club, Life Drawing, Collaborative group show projects, and more.
We're proud to feature kHyal (from getfizz.com) as this Summer's residency mentor. Meeting dates are set in advance for: - June 22nd *7pm-10pm - July 30th *7pm-10pm - August 24th *7pm-10pm Showcases at the end of each month!
Showcases are up Monday-Friday, with a gallery party/artist reception on Wednesday from 7pm-11pm. Reception dates are: - June 27th - July 25th - August 29th
