Studio Montclair seeks entries for its 26th Annual Open Juried Exhibition

at Studio Montclair’s Leach Gallery located in the heart of Montclair
from April 26 to June 7, 2024

Juror: Sally Morgan Lehman, Founder and Director, Morgan Lehman Gallery, NYC

Sally Morgan Lehman is the founder and director of Morgan Lehman Gallery, a contemporary art gallery based in Chelsea, New York City, since 2005. Ms. Lehman has a diverse background in the visual arts, which includes museum education, exhibitions design, state and citywide public art placement, and private and corporate collections management. She has served as a visiting critic and juror at Wave Hill, Guttenberg Arts, the Wassaic Project and the Hunter MFA program, and offers extensive art advisory services to curators, art consultants, designers and corporate and private collectors. She currently teaches Professional Practice for Visual Artists at Montclair State University and has presented regularly on the subject to students at Boston University, FIT, William Paterson University, and The Art Students League. Ms. Lehman is an active member of Art Table, POWArts and NADA.

Venue: Studio Montclair’s Leach Gallery, 641 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, NJ.
Eligibility: Open to all fine artists.
Entry Fee: For up to 3 images: SMI Members – $35; Non-members – $40.
For additional images – $5/each for a max of 5.

Entries:
Online entry (Entrythingy) via (www.studiomontclair.org/apply-for-an-exhibit/).
Artists may submit a maximum of 5 JPEG images.
All mediums accepted including video and installation.
Work must have been completed within the past 5 years. Work previously shown in any SMI exhibition will not be accepted.
Three views of 3D work will be accepted.
For JPEG file format images, files should be a minimum size of 1600 pixels on the longest side. We will accept lower resolution images, but please note that those images cannot be used for publicity and will display poorly in the exhibit catalog. Digital images should be cropped to show only your artwork. If edges are irregular, it is best to photograph against a black background.
Submit work that will be available for the duration of the exhibition. No substitutions will be accepted after selections are finalized.
No giclée reproductions of original art accepted.


Specifications:
2D work: Maximum 5 feet in any direction not to exceed 30 lbs. Wall-hung art must be properly wired for hanging – no fishing line, no string, no saw-tooth hangers.
3D work: Maximum 4 feet in any direction.
3D wall work: Maximum 4 feet in any direction. MAXIMUM 12 inch depth, not to exceed 30 lbs.
Video: mov, mp4, and wmv files will be accepted up to 500mg.
Floor installation: Maximum 36x36x72 inches high, not to exceed 100 lbs.
Monitors and Pedestals: Studio Montclair has a limited number of monitors and pedestals. Electronic and digital works must be ready to show – artists should be ready to provide all components. Artists must be able to supply their own pedestals.
Work not conforming to the submission requirements will be rejected.

Cash Awards: 1st $750, 2nd $500, 3rd $250, Honorable mentions $100.

Liability: Studio Montclair does not provide insurance for theft, loss or damage of artwork while in transit or while on display at their Galleries. All artists should have their work insured if they feel it necessary. Studio Montclair will make every possible effort to handle all artwork with care and respect.
Sales: A 30% donation will be retained by SMI on all sales. Works available for sale will be sold at the price indicated on the entry form. No changes in price will be permitted upon acceptance. Works not for sale should be listed NFS and include an insurance value
Usage of Images: Studio Montclair reserves the right to photograph and use accepted work for documentation, website, publicity, social media or catalog purposes.

Agreement: Entering your work in this exhibition constitutes an acceptance of all the requirements set forth in this prospectus and, if accepted, the Artist Instructions.
