Lewiston Public Library Zine Atheneum

The Lewiston Public Library is seeking Zines of any shape, color, and size, any medium and on any subject matter for it's brand new Zine library.  The LPL is accepting donations to its collection until August 30, 2019.  Please mail two copies of the zines you wish to contribute to the collection (One for circulation and one for the archives.) to:

Please direct any questions you may have to mlewis@lewistonmaine.gov

Zines are generally xeroxed editions of DIY books composed of Poetry, Art, Photography or comics.  Starting in the 40s with Science Fiction Fanzines, stopping off in the 70s for the Punk Rock Scene, and carrying the torch during the 90s for the Riot Grrrl scene, zines have continued, as a medium, to push the bounds of what is publishable by allowing authors complete control of their work.  This uncensored material is vital to a contemporary library.

We are hopeful that you will share your works in our collection at the Lewiston Public Library's Zine Atheneum.
