Sardinia is a fascinating island for its culture, archaeological history and the longevity of its people. While it has some of the best beaches in Europe, it has a very down-to-earth quality. The symposium, which is optional, takes place from May 31-June 2 in the town of San Sperate, where a festival will be taking place in honour of Sardinian artist Pinuccio Sciola. The symposium is fully funded. The residency itself runs from June 3-24. Artists are housed in the village, each sharing a house with one or two of the other participants, while the workspace is in a building that was once a convent. The entire building, with chapels, cloister and garden is available to use. The theme of the residency is Su Bixinau, Sardinian for ‘the neighbourhood’. TApply soon! Only a few spots are currently vacant. See website for details. http://www.terraviventeartstudio.com/">www.terraviventeartstudio.com
