The Fort Worth Community Arts Center (FWCAC) is seeking exhibition proposals from artists and curators for western based artwork to exhibit in "Cultura Del Vaquero" during January and February 2019.

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is the oldest continuously running livestock show and rodeo. It has been held annually in Fort Worth, Texas since 1896, traditionally in mid-January through early February. In March 1918, the Fort Worth Stock Show first went indoors at Cowtown Coliseum in the Fort Worth Stockyards. A century later, the Stock Show Rodeo is held at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum and has been there since 1944. The Fort Worth Community Arts Center, neighbor to the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum, will dedicate January and February, 2019 to the spirit of the west. 9000 sq ft of gallery space will be dedicated to works that embrace the spirit and theme of western based artwork. We have 9 different galleries ranging from 300 to 3000 sq ft that need to be filled. We invite artists from all 50 states to submit works of a western theme as a solo or curatorial proposal. Proposals will be accepted through October 1, 2018 and the show will run from Friday, 01/4/19 to 02/20/19. The Stock Show Rodeo anticipates more than 1 million people during the run of the event.

Submissions will be reviewed in early October. If you are selected to exhibit, you will need to provide precise specifications of what you plan to display. This is necessary so that we can place you in the appropriate gallery. Once approved, only minor variations to your original plan will be allowed.
ABOUT US: Located at 1300 Gendy Street, the FWCAC is part of the most architecturally significant museum districts in the United States. The striking modern Herbert Bayer building (with a later O’Neil Ford addition) opened to the public in 1954 as home to one of the most prestigious and oldest collecting organizations in the state of Texas, the Modern Museum of Fort Worth. When, in 2002, the Modern moved down the street, the Fort Worth Community Arts Center opened. The building has exhibited world class art and supported the performing arts for more than half a century. The Arts Council manages the FWCAC, provides leadership and funding to local arts organizations through our competitive Grants Program and administers the Fort Worth Public Art program.
SUBMISSION: Work will be juried from images submitted only through the gallery’s online submission. $30 submission fee. Must submit 10 to 20 pieces for consideration. Images must be JPEGs with minimum width/height of 800 pixels, maximum size as 3MB. Make sure the file name corresponds with the title of the work and do not use spaces or special characters (!@$, etc) in the image file names. Video and audio files can be submitted through links. FWCAC reserves the right to reject inaccurately represented work, or incomplete submission.
PRESENTATION: Work must be suitably framed (or sides cleanly finished or painted) and ready for hanging. D-rings should be used for heavy works, wires for works under 5lbs. Drawings, prints, watercolors and pastels on paper must be under Plexiglass.
SALES: All work will be for sale unless the artist informs the gallery to the contrary. 25% of proceeds from sales will go to FWCAC and the remainder to the artists.
DEADLINE: All applications must be submitted before midnight (CMT) on October 1, 2018. FWCAC will notify accepted applicants only by late October.
USE OF IMAGES: Any image submitted may be used for non-commercial, marketing or promotional purposes directly related to this show. This use may include in any publications, printed materials, advertisements, or electronic media. Copyright and all other rights remain that of the artist.

LIABILITY: This document represents a contract between the Fort Worth Community Arts Center and the person(s) named on this document. Acceptance of this contract is a specific acceptance of the terms listed. Objects exhibited in the FWCAC will be given great care. Unless the artist wishes to provide his/her own insurance coverage, the FWCAC will insure all exhibitions under its existing insurance policy, which covers up to $500,000, against all risks of physical loss or damage while on the premises during the period of the exhibition. If the exhibitor(s) wish to provide his/her own insurance, such actions constitute the release of the FWCAC from any liability in connection with the exhibition. Coverage is not authorized past the exhibition and artwork may not be stored at the FWCAC unless prior arrangements have been made. The FWCAC allows visitors to photograph works of art. Artists are required to contribute 25% from work sold in the exhibition. By submitting your artwork, you are agreeing to the terms above.
