The Walls That Divide Us
Winner of apexart's Unsolicited Proposal Program,The Walls That Divide Us addresses the post-Cold War proliferation of nation-state and city separation barriers across the globe as a symbol of dissent in the current political landscape. Attention is called to the contemporary relationship between barricading and the spread of conflict worldwide. The selected artists examine the ideology behind wall building as a means of dividing in order to establish sovereignty. The works brought together comment on phenomena such as imperialistic wars, contested territories, borders and migration, as well as facts such as the construction of the Berlin Wall and the Israeli-Palestinian question. Curated by Miguel Amado. On view at apexart from November 9- December 22, 2011.
