The foundation of my work is based on my interest in how people interact with each other on a daily basis. The feeling of awkwardness which appears when you experience miscommunication or misunderstanding. Often I find myself in situations were I feel very uncomfortable and I do not know how to react. Afterwards I wonder if I acted differently or why people react on me differently. I am still the same person right? When does this awkward feeling arise? And Why? I develop postures that do not follow the logical criteria we use to define the human body. This results in distorted bodies that no longer seem to have any identity but do try to regain themselves. I am an artist who works very intuitively. My work is an ongoing process in which I make work by experimenting with different materials. This way, I discover new steps that I can deepen. I use (semi)- transparent materials such as latex, resin, sheets and (plexi)- glass to create spatial photographic sculptures. Multilayered images arise in which the fragility and instability of our seemingly certain reality is questioned.
