modeled on electric chairs used for executions between 1928 and 1963 at Sing Sing Prison in USA. It is re-created for not one, but two people in order to imagine the pleasure of company in an impossible situation. This fragile dream is visualized in a very lightly white image with A4 office papers.
A4 office paper is one of the most commonplace of all supplies. I use this plain, standardized paper as the main material of my work ‘Vegetarian Sculpture’. In order to build a form with the paper and double-sided tape, a ruler is needed. This type of paper, normally perceived as a material of generality, temporality and disposability attains a critical weight as its context renders it significant. For instance, anything from a celebration letter, to a breakup letter or even a death sentence pronounced by a judge might be printed on this type of paper. My work focuses on the ‘Flexibility’ and the Neutrality of the object. Vegetarian Sculpture dubbed by myself, it reflects the intensely delicate process of making this vulnerable work and the organic aura that comes from it.
