While occupying a space, I build it within myself and myself into it, it is my present and nothing else; it cannot exist to me as it does without the particular nature of myself. In a train, I am train, the motion and energy of the train is mine. My internal rhythm is directed by that space, I am moving forward while still and I am many moments at once, lives contained and lives passing by, I am lines, and departure and destination. In a crowd I am crowded. I am the space that I am, I am myself as I am that place.

Responding to my relationship with spaces and objects I embark upon an Investigation of the ambiguous nature of the present through a careful returning to and repeating of patterns within space. Using the disperse processes of movement, text, drawing and stitch I enact time- consuming activities to create detailed manipulations of surface and render image. Re-working the same themes over and over in different ways; time, memory, situation, looking and framing; the work is a tentative reaching out and returning to the self in order to communicate observations of details and habits within space. The installation and performance of the work contextualises and extends the work.

Current investigations reworks collected imagery of landscape, both urban and pastoral in order to explore how environment is inhabited through, interrupted by and in turn absorbed into the body. I am particularly interested in the variations in the landscape of the British Isles and charting its routes.
