Rafkin, born and raised in the Southeastern United States, has an affinity for place and moments in time. Believing that spaces hold the resonance of the people that have inhabited them she has been intrigued with her architectural environments most of her life.Rafkin lived in NYC from 1999 to 2005 where she turned her attention to the urban landscape surrounding her. Attracted first to vacant spaces in the middle of the city, then to the shift in reality that the city held at twilight. The two came together in her series
