I was made in Taiwan, and then got shipped off to SUNY Purchase eighteen years later with some art supplies.
Humor. Sincerity. Innocence. Bravery. My art reflects my belief in being honest to others and myself as an artist, and my experiences as woman coming of age in her sexuality and emotional maturity. Most of the pieces are made from paper and fabric. The issues I deal with are serious, but the intention of my artworks is not to invoke desperation or sadness. As serious as the subject matters are, I strive to keep my artwork lighted-hearted with twists of my own humor – thus, my reincarnation as
‘The Vag.’
‘The Vag’ goes on journey after journey of self-discovery, sexual emancipation (with her vibrator ‘The Beav’), suffers from a spine crawling infestation of scabies, and recovers from a destructive relationship with an ex-lover. Throughout it all, she, ‘The Vag’ grows and grows till she finally flourishes to her greatest capacity.
My vaggies and penises have traveled to many places including the Whitney Museum in New York City and Third Ward Artist Space in Brooklyn, at the same time juggling between working with feminist artists and surviving in New York City. |
