For the past 7 years I have focused and expressed my artwork through the photographic medium. My photography has developed out of the schools of thought in photography known as the "decisive moment" as Henri Cartier-Bresson termed for his style for portraiture and photographic observance. I in many ways like Cartier-Bresson, I likened the camera to a sketchbook for my thoughts and reflections, a medium in which I view people, places, events. Through capturing these moments in time, I have found the need, the ability, my voice which yearns to connect the viewer's notions of what is: truth, beauty, justice, and art which allows the the viewer to either take a step back or perhaps a step forward in order to truly see what is being said through the composition.Through my journeys with my artwork, I continue to questions society's cultural norms and connect the common threads between what is defined as beautiful (i.e.-aesthetically pleasing) by society to that which is often ignored yet unique and equally aesthetic in its own right. The purpose of these connections are to pose the question of how that which is defined as beautiful is agreed to "be" beautiful, a purpose that defies conventional definitions and inspires people to gain familiarity with the environment that surrounds them and ultimately inspire true familiarity & relationships between each other.
