Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival is one of the best-known showcases and meeting points for emerging talent, industry and audiences. The 19th edition of Encounters will be held between 17-22 September 2013 in Bristol, one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the UK.

We accept shorts from all over the world completed from 1 Jan 2012, under 30 minutes in length from every genre: animation, live action drama, documentary, experimental and music video. The festival does NOT have a premiere policy.
Our submissions process is powered by reelport. To submit, you can upload your film digitally via http://www.reelport.com">reelport.com, or send a DVD to reelport headquarters to be digitized and uploaded for a small additional fee.
The films selected for competition are divided into three strands; Animated Encounters (short animated films), Brief Encounters (live action short films), and DepicT! (90 second short films). Under 21s can also submit shorts under 5 mins to Electric December - deadline October 2013 - part of Fresh Flix, Encounters’ young people’s showcase (electricdecember.org).
Multiple Submissions
Submitting one film to Encounters costs €25 (approx. £20.40*). The festival offers discounts for multiple film entries. For those entering more than three films please contact Operations Manager, Rich Warren at rich.warren@encounters-festival.org.uk or contact the festival office on +44 (0)117 929 9188.
All films submitted to the festival are entered into the Online Digital Viewing library, and will be available to all delegates’, buyers, distributors, programmers and press during the festival. Additionally, all films programmed within the competitive screenings will be available to delegates online for six months after the festival via a video-on-demand short film service.

DepicT! challenges creatives across the globe to show their stuff in just a minute and a half. Whatever your budget or genre, just come up with something distinctive, imaginative and engaging and enter for free online to be in with a chance of winning £1500, priceless industry exposure and other exclusive prizes.
