The butterfly effect

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT  Work in progress aboard the Lilac  Cuevas Goldstein Storni “The delicate flutter of a butterfly in Beijing provokes a tornado in New York”  The proposal has both political and economic underpinnings: Any decision made in the developed countries has  the power to affect the third world.  We also see it as a philosophy that harkens back to the law of cause and effect, as well as karma.  We are three Argentinian artists visiting the US during summer 2012 charged with our previous creative experiences.  We have worked alone as well as in collaboration.  We have traveled vastly realizing artistic actions as performers as well as visual artists. We work with art brut (outsider art)  at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital Borda in Buenos Aires. We create and direct Hopening Celebration of Artists in Buenos Aires.  We direct the artist residency Zona 30 located in Lima, Peru.  OUR IDEA FOR THE LILAC STEAMSHIP IS:  • We will live in the boat (approximate dates are July 6th through July 14th).  • Work in progress full time  • We will wrap the boat with heavy weight paper for the duration of the piece that will be removed after the exhibit.  • We would like to have a vernissage on Saturday the 14th on the boat with a creative explosion of paintings, installation  and performance. This culmination will coincide with the City of Water Day, celebrating our lived experience making  and shaping work afloat the Hudson River.
