Historically, photographs and video have been considered “documented evidence”, when in fact, all media can be elaborately staged, embellished, or altered to create a new fiction. How do artists enlist artistic license and engage with conceptual, mysterious, or sublime possibilities to deviate from or alter reality? Alternatively, how do artists utilize media long considered to be subjective, such as painting and sculpture, to search for the truth? Gallery 263 invites artists to submit work that considers truth and fabrication to Fact vs. Fiction—a national show juried by Sam Adams, a Koch Curatorial Fellow at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. Any 2D, 3D, and time-based work will be considered. This call is open to all US residents.
