Uniquely housed in a residential prairie-style complex in Nebraska City, Nebraska, KHN awards up to seventy residency awards per year and hosts 5 resident artists at any time. Residency awards are 2-8 weeks in length and include a weekly $100 stipend. Private accommodations and private studios. $35 application fee. Application deadlines annually are September 1st (Session 1) and March 1st (Session 2).

Application deadline: March 1, 2020 for 2020 Session 2 (July 6 - December 18, 2020)

KHN gives special consideration for emerging artists by reserving a number of “transitional” residencies for recent masters degree graduates (within two years of application deadline). The application process is the same for all applicants, however applications from artists in transition following graduation from an accredited masters degree program receive special consideration. KHN also gives special consideration for Nebraska artists by ensuring that a number of residencies are awarded to Nebraska artists each year. The application process is the same for all applicants, however applications from “transitional” graduates and Nebraska residents/graduates receive special consideration. At KHN, we define Nebraska artist as those who currently live and work in the state, grew up in Nebraska, or received a diploma from a Nebraska university or college.
