3S Artspace invites submissions from contemporary artists for the upcoming 2020/2021 seasons. We welcome work in all mediums and media, including video and installation art. We are particularly interested in:
Art that benefits from or considers the unique space itself (i.e. 25’ ceilings, a wall of windows, etc.); Cohesive bodies of work that lend themselves to opportunities to “extend the conversation” and encourage deeper engagement: (i.e. artist talks, workshops in the artist’s medium, performances in our other spaces, etc. ); and/or Exhibitions that might include an element of public participation.
About 3S Exhibitions
The Gallery at 3S Artspace presents both solo and group shows. Group shows are most often curated by 3S Artspace. We will occasionally consider group applications.
3S offers on-site assistance with installation, outreach and marketing, and hosts an artist opening reception. Housing and/or an artist stipend is sometimes available, but is not guaranteed.
Shipment or delivery of work is the responsibility of the artist.
For work that is for sale, the artist retains 60% and the non-profit gallery retains 40%.
Exhibition length: 6-8 weeks.
About The Gallery at 3S Artspace
Each year, the Gallery presents a diverse representation of contemporary visual artists. Exhibitions highlight unprecedented innovation across disciplines, celebrate artistic excellence, encourage lively discourse, and foster an unwavering appreciation for the vital role that art plays in our community.
The Gallery at 3S Artspace is located in a facility that is also home to a performing arts venue and popular restaurant. Together, we welcome over 50,000 guests each year. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10-6, Saturday and Sunday 12-5. Hours are extended during evenings when there are performances in the venue, as we enthusiastically encourage all visitors and audience members to experience the Gallery.
3S Artspace is a member of Art 'Round Town, (a monthly first Friday art walk in Portsmouth). We provide a cash bar and light refreshments during artist openings and Art 'Round Town events.
3S also hosts a Lobby Gallery and small artisan retail space.
3S Artspace is located in historic Portsmouth NH, a Seacoast community known for its historic downtown, local music and arts scene, thriving restaurant scene, and diverse tourist attractions. A new AC Marriott hotel is
set to open next door to 3S Artspace in the fall of 2019.
