CALL FOR RESIDENCES IN CAL GRAS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CREATIVE PROJECTS

Cal Gras is a house located in Avinyó (Bages), a town of 2,200 inhabitants located in the center of Catalonia, a rural environment about an hour from Barcelona.

The center has several workshops and rooms equipped for the development of creation, experimentation and thought projects. It is a residence designed to offer temporary and community accommodation, with several bedrooms, kitchen and dining room.

We take special care with the interaction between residents, as well as with the territory, especially facilitating the exchange and cultural dialogue with the Institute-School of Avinyó.

BASES

1. Objective: Cal Gras opens a call for free stays in the artists' residence for the development of creation projects.

The general theme is Art and territory.

Specific modality: with collaboration with the Barnola-Avinyó School-Institute, work will be carried out on the subject of transhumance roads.

2. Recipients:

A) creators of all areas (visual, performing arts, literary, musical and thought) with their work generate new views of the territory.

3. Duration: work stay from a minimum of 7 days to a maximum of 15 days, between October 1 and December 20, 2019.

4. Conditions:

a. The center offers free accommodation in single or shared rooms (in case of groups), with use of common spaces (kitchen, dining room, living rooms, etc).

b. Work spaces, meeting rooms, library, wifi. See the characteristics of the rooms on the center's website.

c. The center facilitates contact with the territory and educational center of Avinyó, as well as with services and suppliers of the necessary material for the projects.

d. Travels and diets are in charge of the artist.

e. Predisposition to show the work done during the stay in Cal Gras, in the educational center of Avinyó or in the territory.

5. Application: artists interested in the call may send their project to:

CAL GRAS - C / Francesc Macià, 1-08279 Avinyó (Barcelona), or at serveis@calgras.cat, indicating in the title of the email "Residencia + name of the artist" and enclosing the following documentation:

to. A single document with:

i. Contact details of the project manager (attach an ID or passport image).

ii. Number of participants in the residence, with name and surname.

iii. Proposal of dates for the residence and alternative dates.

iv. Space that is needed.

b. Creative project that you want to develop, in a maximum of 3 pages, that includes a proposal of activity to be carried out in Cal Gras, in the educational center of Avinyó or in the territory (exhibition, performance, workshop, etc.) .

c. Curriculum vitae and sample of work (through links or attachments).

6. Selection and calendar:

a. Applications can be sent until August 31, 2019.

b. The resolution of the call will be notified by email as of September 7, 2019. Once notified to interested parties will be posted on our website.

c. The selection will be made by the center's team, a member of the Cal Gras Cultural Association and a representative of the educational center of Avinyó.

d. Projects that work with the specific theme will be especially valued.

ACCEPTANCE OF THE BASES. Participation in this call implies acceptance of these rules and their resolution, as well as changes that, due to factors outside the Cal Gras team, may subsequently occur.
