NOSTY NOSTALGIA (THE NOSTY) is art for our generation. In a time of great historical transition – cultural, technological, economical – it channels our feeling of loss while reminding us that what was lost was no paradise.

NOSTALGIA is a 6 Foot (2 m) digital installation that is a part of a larger exhibition, THE NOSTY, that will take place in Barcelona on May 4 & 5, 2019.

ABOUT THE ART CALL

Manifest Destiny Art, in the heart of Barcelona’s Art and Design District, is a stunning post-industrial destination for art and innovation.

We are now accepting submissions of artwork inspired by anything the artist considers within the theme 'Nostalgia'. There are no restrictions on content, style, medium or context, but your entries should fit this theme in some way.

We invite and encourage artists of age 18 and up to participate and look forward to seeing the creativity of your work. All local, national, and international artists, professional and amateur, are encouraged to submit their works for this digital art installation exhibition.

Artists will be announced on the website after the entry deadline.

THEME

Do you find yourself wishing to return to a time that never was?

Democracy is under attack – in Europe, the Americas and Asia. Anti-hate liberalism has been straying into fascism, while fascism has been fueling alt-right hate.

Sometimes – all we want to do is turn back the clock.

But turn it back to what?! To a divided Europe? To imperialist largess? To pre-civil rights injustices?

Somewhere between the romantic nostalgia for our past and the brutal realities of history lies our lake of misplaced yearning.

It is in this same place that lessons on humanity, its nature and the fruit it bears (or destroys) can be found. It's the place where beauty and ugliness coexist in a perverse harmony. It's a place that only art can explore and reflect on.

37€ for entry of up to 3 pieces of work.

No restrictions on Medium - if selected for the exhibition, you will submit high res files to the gallery and your work will be curated into the 6ft (2meter) projection.
