Each year, World of WearableArt invites designers, artists and makers from around the world to realise the unimaginable and challenge the conventional as they create works of art that will be brought to life on stage at the annual World of WearableArt Awards Show. For the audience, it is a theatrical spectacular that is a feast for the eyes. For designers, it is an opportunity to make work free from commercial restrictions, to become part of an international design community and to have their talent recognised.

Designers come from the worlds of fashion, textile or industrial design, jewellery, architecture, engineering, sculpture and painting, or homemaking. Some of them have been storing a creative idea in their brain for a long time, sometimes years; others use the annual https://www.worldofwearableart.com/competition/#layer-sections-judging" target="_blank">creative challenges (sections) to spark a new vision.

Today, over 30 years since the first World of WearableArt Awards Show took place, garments come from across the globe and are brought to life on stage in front of an audience of over 60,000 people. WOW offers not only prize money (a total prize pool of NZD187,500) but also profile and promotion of your work, networking opportunities, and access to exclusive internships and residencies. Whether you're entering to progress yourself professionally or simply looking for a creative challenge, WOW is a wonderful platform to push the limits of your imagination and creativity.
