Tortuga Escondida  proudly hosts the http://www.akumalresidency.com" target="_blank">Akumal International Artists Residency (AIAR). We welcome emerging and established artists of all mediums to spend time creating, exchanging, enjoying the magic of beautiful Tulum.

Over the course of four weeks, visiting artists immerse in the Caribbean environment dedicating the time to their practice, ideally with emphasis on a specific project or goal. The program is set up to engage with the community of Akumal through workshops, open studios, and other events. A final public exhibition concludes the residency, where participants share what they’ve created.​

The residency overlaps our first annual https://www.tortuga-escondida.com/the-festival" target="_blank">Festival de Artes, so that resident artists automatically have an opportunity to participate.

Tortuga Escondida is nestled in the Jungle; a hidden hacienda, green and tranquil. The center’s large living quarters are equipped with an industrial sized kitchen, rooftop chill space and a 30’ pool. We have a ceramics kiln ​​on site and are open to site specific works on our grounds. Did we mention it's 15 minutes to the beach?
