The 7th edition of the Contemporary Art Award COMEL is getting underway. The art contest has a growing participation every year and involves artists who regularly, or just in occasion of the competition, work with aluminum.

Registration is open from 10 March to 25 June for all European artists. This year the theme is Harmonies in Aluminium.

Starting from one of the characteristics of the metal, the artist, as in the role of a music director, is called to shape the materials, among which aluminium will have to stand out. Specifically, its excellent ability to conduct heat, energy and sound is taken into account. The result should be a harmonious whole.

The competition highlights the expressive, aesthetic, communicative and constructive potential of aluminium; it consolidates the relationship between business and contemporary art. The CO.ME.L. (a leading company in the trade and processing of aluminum profiles) promotes and supports the Award, established in memory of Mrs. Vanna Migliorin, the beating heart of the Mazzola family and of the company they have been running for 50 years. It is an opportunity for artists to meet, and it connects different European cultures, encouraging the exchange, sharing and mutual enrichment of all the participants.

Participation in the competition is free and open to all artists aged 18 and over who live or work across the European continent. Works of painting, sculpture, design, photography and installation will be admitted to the competition, as long as they have aluminium as their main element and respect the proposed theme.

A jury of experts will select the 13 finalists, whose works will be exhibited in Latina in October, at the Spazio COMEL Arte Contemporanea, the exclusive venue of the Prize. The winner will receive a cash prize of 3500 euros and the possibility of a personal exhibition at the Spazio COMEL, and will be the protagonist of a dedicated catalog.
