PICTURE BERLIN is a hybrid artist residency program founded in 2009 by artists for artists. The strategy of the program is the lack of separation between studio practice, critiques, and shared meals. Every experience informs and builds on the next.

PICTURE BERLIN is a network designed and built around each session’s incoming residents. Heading into its 9th year, PICTURE BERLIN offers two residency sessions designed for emerging artists working in contemporary art and photography. The Fall Session is a professional development opportunity for resident artists to be part of the Berlin scene in a concentrated and focused way through portfolio reviews, artist talks given by the residents and tours through the city which highlight the current pulse of the city. The Fall Session is geared to the artist who is ready to network and move to the next step in their emerging career. The residency is about exchanging ideas and facilitating connections not only in Berlin and beyond.

The 10 day program is geared towards the artist who wants to focus on their professional development and facilitates their entrance into the Berlin art scene.

The program fee is: €1,759.00 for 10 days of programming excluding the cost of housing and travel.

The Fall Session offers:

+ 6 choreographed artist walks titled "In Search of the Miraculous" which is a 10 hour performance/endurance walk through 6 different neighborhoods with 8 Berlin based international artists

+ A tour of Project Space venues

+ A tour of Commercial Galleries

+ A curatorial portfolio review that includes between 5-8 portfolio reviews by International curators based in Berlin
