As part of leading contemporary performance venue The Point’s next four- year cycle (2018-2022) starting in April 2018, the venue is looking to form a long-term, two-way relationship with up to four artists or companies working in a performance context in theatre, dance, circus, aerial dance, integrated arts or outdoor arts.

Through its new @HOME programme, the Eastleigh venue is keen to support non-ACE NPO artists/companies who have an existing profile and work portfolio, but who have little or no core infrastructure. It is interested on taking a joint journey over an extended period of time and fuel an upward trajectory.

The Point wants to create a meaningful and authentic connection that is reciprocal and that breaks down the barriers between artist and venue. It would support the development of a four-year strategic plan and be instrumental in creating opportunities to make step change, whether it be artistically or organisationally.

In exchange it is looking to expand its creative brain and invite the successful artists/companies to become involved in developing the creative programme at The Point which might include the performance programme;  audience development; creative learning or professional development programmes. The Point wants to be able to bring artists and audiences closer together in multiple ways, and break the perceptions of venues as gatekeepers.

The Brief:

The Point is looking for four artists/companies who are:

Working in a performance context with little or no core infrastructure with at least four- years’ experience in the professional sector.

Ambitious, dynamic, forward thinking with a clear idea of what they want to achieve over a four-year period artistically and organizationally.

Willing to engage with The Point in a more meaningful way, contributing to the developing creative programme.

Willing to offer mentorship to The Point’s cohort of Associate Artists.

As well as rehearsal space, co-commissioning and performance opportunities, this is a chance to have long-term access to expertise in marketing; technical, organisational development; artistic mentoring; creative learning and further relationship building in regional and national networks. A @HOME artist/company would be invited to be part of the wider Point family.
