The launch of the “Rights of Passage” toolkit will take place on 21st September 2017 at a high-profile event at the Amnesty International, London Office inviting NGOs, Members of Parliament, policymakers, interfaith groups, scholars, members of the community.

During the launch, we will be hosting an art exhibition to showcase work and art related to breaking taboos surrounding menstruation and women empowerment from all around the work but any work focusing on the context of Asia, Africa and the Middle East region would be appreciated to complement the toolkit. This can be through any type of media and perspectives as we want to encourage participation and raise awareness in creative ways.

We are inviting proposals of 2D/ 3D art, videos, photography, small workshops (preferably interactive) and we welcome other creative ideas! Representations from different religious and cultural contexts are welcomed and encouraged.

Guidance note: As the publication is based on the Islamic faith, in line with the teachings in the toolkit, we ask that the art work is considerate of cultural and religious sensitives and does not contain any nudity i.e. genitals and does not contain period blood or direct depictions of it (the rationale according to the toolkit is that the blood is considered private not dirty).

What we provide: Benefits of exhibiting at our event include access to a good exhibition space, facilitating exposure of your work at a high profile event and venue in central London, opportunity to network, exposure to our networks, being featured on our social media and any other media outlets attending on the day. As we are a charity organisation with a small budget for this launch, this would be an unpaid opportunity, however we are able to reimburse transport expenses within the Greater London area for the day.

Proposal outline: Proposal should include the following information: a title, an abstract (150-200 words), examples of previous work (if applicable) and your contact details.

Proposals should be sent via email to faeezah@globalone2015.org
