Scholarship available with the residency program of the Icelandic Textile Center


 


The Center of Research and Collaboration in Blönduós, Iceland, will grant one two-month scholarships for selected textile artists from Baltic/Nordic countries participating in the residency program at the Icelandic Textile Center in November and December 2017. The residency is based in Kvennaskólinn, the former Women's College in Blönduós, and as such has private rooms with shared living and open plan shared studios, a loom weaving loft, and a small gallery. Scholarships include accommodation costs supported in full to the value of €2200, travelling cost up to €500, a one-year membership with Nordic Textile Art, a workshop grant, as well as a €1500 work stipend for the two-month stay.


 


Qualifications


-       We encourage applications from artists who work with both traditional and contemporary forms of textile and fiber arts, or whose artistic practices are intrinsically linked to the use of textiles, including performance, costume/theater, installation, wearable art and fashion.


 


Terms and conditions


-       Scholarship holders are expected to prepare and hold a community workshop, participate in a residency exhibition, and be visible within the residency during the two months of their stay.


-       Scholarships will only be granted to artists from Baltic/Nordic countries.


-       Scholarship fees will be paid in three parts, 25% upon arrival, 25% upon completion of the community workshop, and 50% at the end of the stay.


-       The scholarship program is valid from November 2017 – December 2017.
