TREES. They say dog is man's best friend, but perhaps it is the tree? We yearn to be near them; they hold a special place in the heart. Givers of shelter and sustenance, they feed our bodies and our souls. They inspire through beauty, whether the flowers of an orchard, a mountain-side of birch, or a single old oak or spindly sapling. Trees provide community and companionship; we live and love in their shadow. Home to bird and bug, man and beast alike; the tree asks nothing in return but a place to spread it's branches in the sun and a patch of earth to put down roots. It won't come when you call, but it's dogged permanence in spite of the wild twists and turns of our own peripatetic lives is what charms us so. So giving is the tree, it synthesizes the very oxygen we breathe; a dandy bit of magic indeed! So this month at 1650, let's turn over a new leaf and give props to the magical world of TREES. Without whom, we would literally be nothing.

Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photos to be included in the TREES< group photography exhibition at 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles.
