Cultura del Silencio: Violencias Invisibles es una convocatoria transatlántica de trabajos de video/performance que sucede entre Latinoamérica y los Países Bálticos y Nórdicos*. El llamado busca trabajos que respondan, discutan, resistan y amplíen visiones acerca de las representaciones explícitas de la violencia promovidas por los medios masivos que construyen una estética violenta con bases estereotipadas, polarizando el entendimiento en un sistema binario (bueno/malo, blanco/negro, primer mundo/tercer mundo...) invisibilizando la complejidad de las violencia sutiles y las relaciones entre ellas.

Esta convocatoria al estar dirigida a dos continentes, busca componer una muestra con diferentes perspectivas estéticas, geográficas, económicas y políticas de la violencia; es una convocatoria sutil que se pregunta sobre el origen de la violencia, su asimilación, dispersión, y transmisión.

Las siguientes preguntas pueden servir de guía:

¿Cómo revelar la violencia? ¿Cómo reaccionar, cómo hacerla visible sin reproducirla? ¿Cuáles son las acciones posibles para resistir y rechazar la violencia?¿Cómo pueden contextualizarse las prácticas locales de performance que se refieren a situaciones específicas en eventos de alcance global? ¿Cuáles son los mecanismos en la práctica del performance que pueden desarrollarse más allá de la escena del arte para afectar a otros públicos?

Cultures of Silence: Invisible Violence

Cultures of Silence: Invisible Violence is a transatlantic call for video/performance works that happens in between Latin America and the Nordic and Baltic Countries*. The call looks for works that respond, discuss, resist and expand their visions towards the explicit representations of violence, promoted by massive media and building a violent aesthetics with stereotypical basis, polarizing the understanding in a binary system (good/bad, white/black, first world/third world…) invisibilizing the complexity of the subtle violence's and the relation between them.

By being directed at 2 continents, this open call seeks to compose a screening selection with different aesthetics, geography's, economies and political perspectives of violence; it is a subtle open call that asks about the origin of violence, its assimilation, dispersion and transmission.

The following questions can help as a guide:

How to reveal violence? How to react, how to make it visible without reproducing it? What are the possible actions to resist and reject violence? How can local performance practices be contextualize in global events when they refer to specific situations? What are the mechanisms in performance practice that can be developed beyond the art scene, affecting other audiences?
