Mark Devereux Projects invites applications from UK based visual artists for StudioBook; an intensive development programme designed for early to mid-career artists.

Building on a highly successful inaugural programme in 2015, StudioBook will provide participants with two weeks of concentrated seminars, workshops and one-to-one mentoring sessions, led by established artists, curators and arts professionals.

StudioBook also provides selected artists with on going mentoring by Mark Devereux Projects, the chance to apply for a dedicated £2,000 commission and acquisition with the University of Salford Art Collection and an exhibition/public talk opportunity.

Costs

StudioBook costs approximately £1,700 per artist to deliver. However, we have secured Arts Council England funding to cover the majority of these costs.

The total cost to each artist is £180.

Costs for the programme apply to successful applicants only – there is no charge to apply.

Developed for artists, and mindful of the current economic climate and changes within higher education, StudioBook offers an intensive and cost-effective learning programme: we believe it represents excellent value for money. All payments will be made to Mark Devereux Projects who are coordinating the programme.

A limited number of travel, accommodation and childcare bursaries will be available to artists upon application. Mark Devereux Projects will advise on the best and cheapest accommodation in Greater Manchester where available. Additional costs to participants will include travel and accommodation during the programme; please factor this into your planning.

StudioBook is open to UK-based artists working in any art form. While we are keen to support a variety of practices we strongly welcome applications from early to mid-career artists.

StudioBook 2015/16

The StudioBook 2015/16 programme proved to be a resounding success with the participating artists, speakers and audiences all rating the programme highly.

“In terms of professional development, this has been the most valuable week I have ever had. I have learnt more than I could have imagined I would, and have so much more confidence in moving forward. I know I will rely on the strategic planning technique to keep me focused throughout my career. I have made links with significant professionals and also an essential artist network. I am sure I will use what I learnt this week long in to the future.” - [Sophie Lee, StudioBook artist 2015/16]

“StudioBook has given me renewed impetus to practice as an artist. The week of talks helped me view my practice in a more professional manner and the subsequent support has provided a safe space in which to discuss my practice at this time of uncertainty.” - [Tabitha Moses, StudioBook artist 2015/16]
