IMMA is seeking proposals from cultural practitioners to work in response to the IMMA Collection: Freud Project, 2016 – 2021. Launched in October 2016 the project features 30 of the artist’s finest paintings, and 20 works on paper. Supporting process based research IMMA invites interested candidates to propose contexts and research in their own practice which would explore, contest, expand, complement or radicalise the resonance and impact of the work on show in the Freud Centre and open to new possibilities with selected practices.

Over five years IMMA is presenting a series of Lucian Freud related exhibitions, with revolving and evolving manifestations yearly. All 50 works are currently on display without intervention for this first year and this is the inaugural call for proposals.

With this extraordinary resource IMMA is programming special exhibitions, education partnerships, symposia and research to maximize resources for schools, third level students, artists and audiences all over Ireland and beyond. Through this opportunity IMMA supports the development of studio practice, artistic production and encourages means and methods developed with the institution to work with various museum publics.
