OUTLINE: This Master class provides the opportunity to enhance, discover and revisit drawing and painting practices to transpose sketches onto paper and canvas using a diverse range of preliminary exercises through a combination of location sketching and studio work.

Participants will be encouraged and expected to experiment with their use of established techniques as well as explore original approaches to art and design using mixed media materials in order to promote and develop pictorial conversations with the unique land and seascapes on the island of Kefalonia.

A cultural visit will offer participants the opportunity to explore the most interesting sites on the island.

The island will form the context from which inspiration can be drawn allowing participants to bring together their individual artistic dialects and cultural accents.

Participants will be able to benefit from a minimum of three hours of optional (morning) instruction for the first five days allowing time to continue individual practice with open studio access. Time will be available for individual and group discourse.

The final two days of studio practice allow for artwork to be completed in preparation for the installation of a curated group exhibition.

The master class will provide participants with opportunities to develop a creative dialogue and to reflect on their use and choice of media.

The master class is run by UK qualified and practicing Artist and Educator, Emma Papadopoulos.
