Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) in Michigan City, IN has issued an open call for Home, a national juried exhibition. Submissions to Home are open to artists whose work investigates the concept in a variety of ways. Possibilities include artwork about shelter, family, immigration, homelessness, nostalgia, architecture, domesticity and the planet we all share, Earth!

Artists are the authors of culture and history. The theme of Home is provoking enough, and for some takes on a whole new meaning within the current political discourse. I look forward to the broad response this show will evoke.

…CarolAnn Brown, Curator of Exhibitions, LCA

Selecting the artworks from the submissions are guest jurors Emanuel Aguilar and Julia Fischbach, the principals of Patron Gallery, Chicago.

Emanuel Aguilar is a gallerist and independent curator living and working in Chicago, IL. In 2015 he founded PATRON, a contemporary art gallery with a focus on emerging artists and conceptual practice. Previously he was a director at Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago and Berlin and a founder of the arts and culture magazine Jettison Quarterly. Aguilar serves on the board of ACRE Residency.

Julia Fischbach is a director and co-founder of PATRON, contemporary art gallery with a focus on emerging artists and conceptual practice, and working in Chicago, IL. Previously she was a director at Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago and Berlin for seventeen years.

From the artists selected to exhibit in Home, two will be chosen for a future exhibition at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts.

LCA has three unique, dynamic gallery spaces; the main floor gallery is 2067 square feet, and two second floor galleries are each 370 square feet. LCA’s reputation and contemporary curating style makes it a desirable exhibit space conveniently located only 60 miles outside of Chicago on the shores of Lake Michigan.
