What could we do together for the 30th anniversary of the festival?
To express our determination for more life force, more struggle, more troublemakers than ever.
To be 30 in 2017!
That’s lucky!
A hundred years ago, there was a revolution that shook the world and raised a huge hope in the heart of oppressed humanity. But while its social and political project didn’t keep its promises, it was all the opposite for the artistic and poetic avant-gardes which grew in the turmoil of the beginning of the 20th century. Video art is the indomitable daughter of these creative passions.
Disoriented by the market ideology that creates oblivion, very few people still remember these artists who wanted to destroy old languages in order to open new possibles. We will pay tribute to the one who best embodied these revolutionary passions that are so much needed in our fruitless time, the electronic poet Gianni Toti, who passed away 10 years ago.
Since their creation, Les Instants Vidéo heard many prophetic voices announcing the death of video arts buried in short-lived concepts such as moving images, digital art…
Video art never stopped meeting with all the image technologies, all the artistic fields, all the styles, not to move along with the times and the aesthetic trends, but to play with them. To exult a Slap in the Face of well-behaved, modelled, self-satisfied Public Taste. This is the reason why we will also homage to Jacques Rouxel, the father of Les Shadoks: “To reduce the numbers of unhappy people, always beat up the same individuals.”
So, Video art is a state of mind.
Wether you are a video, digital or experimental artist, an electronic poet, a performer, a shadok, a revolutionary activist, a dogmatic lover of freedom, a dancer on the stars, a reveller, a rascal or a dreamer of unexplored sensualities, there we will never be too many of us to blow the candles of a festival which only goal is to walk along with desires that are disorders.
