8 to CREATE at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign announces a call to artists to participate in a live art event on March 11, 2017 in Urbana, Illinois.
8 to CREATE is a live art event in which eight artists each create a piece of art in eight hours. The show is open to the public to observe the creative process. 8 to CREATE will not be involved in selling any work.
Kansas-based artist Hong Chun Zhang will be participating as the featured artist. You can view her work at http://www.hongchunzhang.com/
This call is open to all artists 18 years of age or older, residing outside of the Champaign and Urbana counties in Illinois. Each artist will receive a modest honorarium.
The show and the participating artists will be promoted in the following ways: invitations, press releases, and print and online media. Artists’ current work will also be promoted on our website and Facebook.
ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS
1) Email the following to 8toCREATE@gmail.com:
- 5-8 recent examples of your work.
- Descriptions of each image including title, dimensions, and medium.
- A short bio.
- A link to your website, if available.
2) Submit the entry fee of $25 (nonrefundable) through PayPal to 8toCREATE@gmail.com.
ABOUT 8 to CREATE
8 to CREATE is a Registered Student Organization at the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign. Our goals are:
1) to make the typically private process of creating artwork accessible and open to the public for observation, engagement, and participation; and
2) to break down institutional and social hierarchies by bringing together a mix of artists from a variety of experiences and affiliations in one creative space.
