The first one to break the silence sets the agenda. At least until the next one shouts even louder.
For the 13th edition of the Chemnitz arts and culture festival Begehungen, we enter a space with a current sound level of 0 Decibel. Where usually the location constitutes the permissible sound level and thus nature of the get-together, now art should create a conversion, complying with nothing but its own level.

On one hand, this years Begehungen aims to record the history of the industrial
Poelzig-premises in Chemnitz on 5000 square meters of exhibition space, formerly
giving room for a lingerie as well as a sportswear manufacturer. On the other hand, it
wants to build on and transcend those legacies through the expressions of art.
Under the freely interpretable guiding principle 'TA LÄRM' we are calling for the
application with works of art or a free concept for a four-week residency in
Chemnitz.
