Juried Exhibition, “The Museum of the Real and Odd”


 


 


The Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA) is seeking submissions for an unusual exhibition curated by Jeremy Efroymson titled “The Museum of the Real and Odd.”  The exhibition will run from December 2, 2016 to January 21, 2017.  


 


We are seeking contemporary artwork that deals with a variety of concepts and takes on the subjects of weirdness, oddness, otherness, Bigfoot, UFO’s, mythical creatures, etc. Serious and conceptual works in all media will be considered. Works can be already produced or created specifically for this exhibition.


 


Deadline for your submissions : August 1, 2016.


 


To present existing work, artists may submit up to 8 images. Submitted images must be close to 4” x 5" at 300 dpi. Please save your images as jpg files only and label with your last name and number each piece. For example Smith.1.jpg.


Submitted images must be accompanied by a single Word document with the following information on each work submitted:


1. Title


2. Media


3. Date


4. Dimensions


5. Brief description of work (250 words max) as it relates to the theme of this exhibition 


6. Your name as you would like it to appear (should you be selected for this exhibition)


7. Optional: your website, artist statement, resume, bio.


 


Artists interested in proposing new work, special projects, performances, or multimedia installations are welcome and encouraged to submit those directly to the curator.  Funding may be available for particularly compelling interpretations on the theme. For new work, please submit a two to three paragraph descriptions along 8 images of existing work following the guidelines above for existing work.

 While there is no submission fee for this exhibition, artists are responsible for outgoing and return shipping.
