Whitdel Arts is currently accepting submissions and proposals for CROTCH: Contested Territory. This exhibition is intended to serve as a discussion on modern sexuality and changing gender roles. Current media has created a narrative as society evolves its views on gender and the constructs that were once held as “standards” or “rules” have been blurred and expanded. How much does society’s framing of sexuality affect how we shape our own identities? While some might view the changes as liberating, others might find them intimidating and uncomfortable. From a young age, we are taught that such ideas and orientation are a private matter, but as these ideas and concepts change and come to the forefront of discussion it's clear that this hasn’t been private at all. From the beginning of life our “private parts” seem to mandate a lot in regards to how we live, reaching much further than points on an anatomical chart. This exhibition will be held at Whitdel Arts in December 2015
Exhibition dates: December 4- January 23, 2015 Reception: December 4th 7-10pm
Criteria: All media- installation- performance excepted. Created within the last 2 years.
Entry Fee: $15 for non-members. Free for members of Whitdel Arts. A $24 annual Whitdel Arts membership can be purchased through PayPal at: http://www.whitdelarts.com/membership/">www.whitdelarts.com/membership/.
Submissions: All entries must be submitted via email. No mailed in entries, slides or CDs will be accepted. Each artist can submit up to 3 works, one overall and one detail photo maximum per piece. Optional artist’s statement, 200 words or less.
Entries to be submitted to Crotch@whitdelarts.com Including:
● $15 entry fee for non-members, new membership ($24), or free current Whitdel Arts members
● up to 6 jpg images (2 per piece of work)
● Complete slide list
● Artist statement, no more than 200 words, optional
Images must be in:
● jpeg format
● 72 dpi resolution
● No more than 2 mb
● Longest dimension should be at 1000 pixels (maximum)
● Name each image as follows: lastname_firstname_entrynumber.jpg (example: king_jamie_01.jpg, king_jamie_02.jpg) OR lastname_firstname_entrynumber_detail.jpg
In addition, a corresponding slide list must be uploaded. On the slide list, please include:
● Entry number, Artist’s name, Title, Medium, Date, Dimensions, Price (Example: 01 – Jamie King, Self-Portrait, serigraph, 2011, 18” x 24”, $200.00)
● If work is not for sale, please indicate NFS. If no price is labeled for an artwork, it will be presumed NFS.
Submissions of images and/or proposals must be received by no later than October 26th.
Artists will be notified of jurying results no later than November 1st via email.
Sales: For artwork sold during the exhibition, Whitdel Arts takes a 33% commission fee of the sales price, regardless of other gallery affiliation. Artwork need not be for sale.
Work Drop Off & Installation:
Accepted work must be delivered or hand-delivered to Whitdel Arts by November 15th 2015.

Accepted artists reserve all rights of reproduction of their consigned work, provided Whitdel Arts may publish photographs of all such work for promotional and/or educational purposes as it may deem appropriate.
Work Pick-up: Unsold, hand-delivered artwork must be picked up by the artist by Jan. 24th. Whitdel Arts will return shipped artwork that has return postage included.
