Open call: Video Social Club presents Weekenders

Video Social Club, an artist-led initiative, is seeking moving image work responding to the thematic ‘Weekenders’ for its inaugural event, as part of the Plymouth Art Weekender 25th - 27th September.

What is Video Social Club?

VSC is a peripatetic artist video screening night, held in social clubs across Plymouth. This is an artist-led project developed by Rachel Dobbs, Steven Paige and Beth Emily Richards. The events are held in social clubs, and as a licensed premises there is also an emphasis on the social aspect of each event. Future events will have opportunities for guest selectors/curators, existing artist film archives and film coops to become involved.

What is the Plymouth Art Weekender?

The Plymouth Art Weekender is an ambitious three day event celebrating visual art across the city, taking place on 25/26/27th September 2015.

Confirmed exhibitions feature over 100 artists including Gerhard Richter, Tim Etchells, Gillian Wearing, Mary Kelly, Richard Deacon, Ivan Chermayeff, Hew Locke, Grayson Perry, Keith Harrison, Claire Twomey and Bill Woodrow. These will be complimented by public art, talks, music, film, workshops, performance and local, national and international artists and community groups taking over empty spaces across the city following an open call for ideas.
