This book -The Gospel According To Duchamp: 10 Shocking Strategies That Work to Becoming a Bestselling Artist- cannot have anything but an appropriate cover design and illustration.

We’re not talking about the most beautiful cover but about one that would best match the content, intent and personality of this iconoclastic manifesto.

Illustration Brief

Please make sure to read this brief in full before starting your artwork.

1. Read the book for ideas and themes and look at the competition website for help with ideas.

2. You can interpret the book’s content visually in many different ways; we will be looking for the most appropriate book cover illustration. You may wish to concentrate on the artworks or some of the characters (i.e. the artists) that T.D. Hare refers to, a single artist mentioned inside the book, a single item or motif or something more scandalous and symbolic. The choice is up to you.

3. Create an illustration for the cover to fit the dimensions below. Your image can be full color, a single color or two colors; it’s up to you.

4. You can use any media such as paint, pencils, collage, printmaking, photographic illustration, vector-based artwork or a 3D model (photographed and designed to fit the dimensions). The possibilities are endless.

5. Please do not include lettering; instead allow lots of space for it. The designers at The Gate Creative Group will be adding the author and title type to the cover.

6. When uploading your work to the site please supply it as an RGB JPEG, JPG, PNG or GIFthat is no bigger than 2 MB. Please make sure you keep the original high-resolution artwork, as this will be needed if you win the competition.

7. Size: 228.6 mm high X 152.4 mm wide. Your artwork can be bigger than this, but it must be scaled to the correct proportions. Also, the outer 5 mm of the winning artwork will be trimmed all round when printed. This is called the “bleed”. Nothing important should go in this area.
