You can feel it in Manchester, the history of a million creatives breaking out of the terrace shadows and industrial doorways, the pulse of acid soaked summers, the hold and shift of swaying bodies, synthetic drums, synthetic highs. You can almost hear the desperate scream echoing off glass fronted office spaces, and ancient mills, cascading through the city, from Levenshulme to Droylsdon, them amplified across the north. There’s a feeling here that time is eternal, people live forever, Friday will always come, art is the weather vain, music is the wind, a signal, a blue bird in spring, leaves in autumn. There are no trends here, no passing phase, no forgotten classics, just one long story, the chapter never ends. we just. keep. writing. 

PRISM Manchester is this feeling, this belief against all odds that Manchester keeps spinning, not just a showcase, but a statement. Manchester has a voice, it has a laugh and a cry, a scream and a whisper. You can never find yourself lost in manchester, only somewhere new, the streets don’t carry you, they guide you. PRISM serves only as another experience of this Manchester state of mind, another meeting point in this vast network of streets and canals, train lines and tram stops. A signal point in time where these ideas and emotions can clash, erupt with all the fury and rage of the ages. where art and music can meet, people and space can merge, Light and dark can fuse then finally split again back out into the world, wavelengths piercing the cosmos, changed yet the same, a part of the sum, the endless story, the constant change, the shifting rhythm, Manchester.

PRISM Manchester 2 is currently seeking submissions for its next event. Open to all contemporary fine artists and designers, professional and student, national and international. Works submitted should address the temporary, sociable nature of the "event" and seek to explore, exploit, or disturb this.

Applications can be sent via email to prismmanchester@gmail.com with all mediums welcome. (Video must be supplied in PAL format and under 500mb). The deadline for submissions is 27th March 2015.

PRISM is Sheffield’s leading contemporary art event. Established in 2008, it utilises various venues to exhibit both emerging and established artists. As a one-night event featuring a variety of work, screenings and live music, PRISM provides the opportunity to experience exciting creative endeavours in a relaxed and social setting.

PRISM Manchester is the second in an on-going series of events offering an experimental platform for artistic exchange between emerging artists, curators & musicians. The Art Bar haven decided to adopt the social structure of PRISM, opening it up to new spaces, new artists, and a new audience in a bid to offer exciting artistic opportunities to Manchester based creatives.

The Art Bar is a functional artwork devised in a bid to explore, and often exploit, the evolving social space within various contemporary art realms. Using the creative process of mixology as an investigative tool, The Art Bar brings together the leisurely activities of real life and the conceptual frameworks of art, carefully crafting a unique social space that manifests as an important site for wider artistic research into the relationship between the artist and audience.
