Open Call to Aabenraa Artweek 2015

We are pleased for the fifth time to be able to give Danish and international visual artists the opportunity to apply for and take part in Aabenraa Artweek  – a ten-day international symposium for contemporary art.

The symposium itself takes place August 6 through 16, and on August 15, we will open an exhibition documenting and showing the results of the symposium. This exhibition can be seen until August 31. In addition to the symposium and the exhibition, we will be conducting a dissemination project – an aesthetic laboratory across the Danish-German border.

The focal point of this project is the artistic work in the public space, creating direct contact between the audience and the work place. This year, aside from having town spaces in Aabenraa, we will also have town spaces in Flensborg.

The participating artists will be provided with accomodation, contribution to their travel expenses and materials, and catalogues/documentation following the symposium.

The symposium is an opportunity to work with your own artistic project as well as expanding your network across the borders while working in a lovely atmosphere.

So far, Aabenraa Artweek has conducted four symposiums – in 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2013 – and we have managed to develop into a strong and distinct cultural player in southern Jutland, receiving great recognition.

Deadline for applying for participation in Aabenraa Artweek 2015 is November 10, 2014, upon which a professional art jury will select the participants medio December 2014. The jury consists of: curator Katrine Kampe, Kunstmuseet Brundlund Slot; professor Manfred Blohm, Universität Flensburg; visual artist Markus Herschbach; Charlotte Helt Brungaard, Aabenraa Kommune and Kerry Harms Nielsen, Galleri Kant, Copenhagen.

Please send your application by email or post.
