FKL and Portobeseno invite you to present theoretical papers and musical works related to the theme of the soundscape for the seventh symposium of Forum Klanglandschaft which will take place at Castello di Beseno, in Besenello (TN), Italy, from May 22 to May 24, 2015.
The conference is organized jointly by the two organizations and offers the opportunity to present papers, musical works, installations and videos.
The theme chosen for the international FKL symposium 2015 deals with the relations between the sounds in the environment and the concept of identity.

Places, inhabitants, but also times and various communication practices bring inevitably along a great variety of sonic identities. With this theme we intend to provide a cross-stimulation for all the scientific and artistic disciplines which - each according to its specific listening strategies and its methods for finding problems and answers – are interested in the sonic side of landscapes and in the relation to its inhabitants.

FKL
The Forum Klanglandschaft (FKL) – Soundscape Forum is a no-profit association and aims at bringing together persons from different disciplines who are interested in issues of listening and of a responsible approach to the acoustic environment. FKL was formed following the impulse coming from the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology, created in 1993, and acts as a platform for information and contact on the European level. FKL undertakes and supports activities in the sciences, the arts, and education that contribute to increase sensitivity for the acoustic environment and an open and active listening, as well as the initiatives in urban planning aiming at a responsible use of acoustic spaces and times. FKL’s members are engaged in monitoring the acoustic environment, in acoustic design, deal with the soundscape created by the new media, and with artistic activities based on the interaction with environmental sounds and rhythms.

PORTOBESENO
Portobeseno is a cultural project founded in 2004 which works on 2.0 multimedia archives, art projects and laboratories dealing with issues of the territory, the landscape and individual and collective memories.
The projects are based on narrative interviews, ethnographic research, didactical laboratories for schools, reflections on oral memory and on the factual knowledge of the territory, on the exploration of soundscapes and their relation to the web through the development of virtual maps, creative blogs, geoblogs, social projects for the web.
These projects are integrated in the festival “Portobeseno, a journey to historical and web sources “ which produces events (ranging from theatre to electro-acoustic concerts) and innovative multimedia installations. The Portobeseno festival furthermore hosts discussions on authors rights, creative sharing, the real / virtual perception of the territory, from the discovery of a trail in the woods to net surfing.
