This season we are seeking proposals for video-related workshops. Videorover: Season 9 will be presented as a series of workshops in the main gallery space for a three week period. The gallery will be an evolving pedagogical space, where visitors can come participate in or view the product of each workshop. In this respect, we are looking for work from artists that are interested in or open to the spirit of collaboration. We encourage proposals for workshops that consider public engagement, the space and resources of the gallery, and those which can be open for public viewing while the workshop is not in session. The workshop format is open and can include hands-on/interactive activities, lectures or discussions, they can focus on a particular video technique, or facilitate the creation of an original work.

The selected artists will need to be present to lead the workshops. Workshops will be open to the general public, and can take place on a weeknight or weekend between December 5 and December 21, 2014. Basic equipment can be provided, but we ask that artists can be fairly self-sufficient if any special requirements need to be fulfilled. For this program, we are willing to work with artists of all levels of experience. Applicants are not required to have teaching experience, but must demonstrate confidence in the topics they would like to present. At least one workshop will be planned specifically for students of our Education Outreach Program, so please consider adaptations for a younger audience. A small stipend is available for each participating artist.

After the workshop series in the main space, Videorover will then move the the Videorover project space, where either a work by each artist, or a product from the artists’ workshops will be displayed on a rotation of one video per day for the remainder of the season. For this reason, if it is not the intention of the workshop to produce a new video, then please submit between one and three related works which will be available when the exhibition moves to the Videorover project space.

The subject matter of this call is open. Keep in mind that although we are dedicated to realizing these projects through creative institutional support, our budget and equipment is limited.

Deadline is November 10 at midnight
