PERFORMING ARTS RESIDENCY PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education is currently accepting applications for its Performing Artists Residency Program. This initiative will highlight emerging artists in the performing arts: music, theater, performance art, poetry, and dance. Past Performing Artist Residents include: Bobby Sanabria, Intikana, "La Bruja" Caridad de la Luz, The Peace Poets, Milteri Tucker and Bombazo Dance Co., Sita Frederick and Areytos Performance Works, Circa '95, Cynthia Paniagua, Full Circle Productions and Michael Paul Britto.

This three-week, process-oriented residency is awarded to five individual Artists per year. Through an application and juried selection process, the program will provide much needed rehearsal space, performance venue, stipend and arts opportunities for the Artists/Arts groups while providing our community with rich arts-based culture right here in their neighborhood.

ELIGIBILITY
All New York-based artists are welcome to apply. All applicants’ work should be based on an already in-progress work along with two-hour community engagement component (e.g.: an artist talk, workshop). With Casita Maria’s commitment to local artists, preference will be given to Bronx-based applicants. Only artists who apply through this call or are nominated by outside Bronx organizations will be considered. Artists who have been awarded a Casita Maria Performing Arts Residency must wait two years before applying again. This year’s jurors include representatives from established arts organizations and former Casita Maria Performing Arts Residency Artists.
