The Chimera Art Award is founded to raise international visibility for fine artists (under the age of 40). The award supports contemporary art that contributes to a better understanding of our time.

The Chimera Art Award was created by Chimera-Project, with sponsorship from Works.io. Chimera-Project is a program gallery in Budapest with an international orientation. The gallery program is built on curated, thematic exhibitions, that provide space for meaningful discourse in contemporary art.

The winner of the first prize will receive a solo-exhibition at Chimera-Project with 1000.00 USD
exhibition budget, an exhibition review and a works.io pro subscription.
Moreover there will also be a Public Choice Prize, given to one of the 15 shortlisted finalists.

The international jury with the art historian Zsolt Petrányi (head of the contemporary collection at the
Hungarian National Gallery), artist Viktor Frešo (ranked amongst the leading Central European artists) and the international curator collective «7by8» will select the winner based upon his/her professional portfolio (including cv and artists statement).

Deadline for all applications is June 25th, 2014. The winners of the award will be announced on July
14th, 2014.

Reflecting on the art award format itself, Chimera-Project additionally opens a dialogue on selection
criteria in contemporary art. Such a dialogue is beneficial for all participating artists and also
contributes for the contemporary art critique.
